On MLK Day, at our son’s request, we hosted a MLK Speech Reading in our cul-de-sac. We made fliers and sent them with the kids to school and walked around our neighborhood inviting everyone for burgers and dogs while they lasted and to come join the reading and/or just come and listen and meet neighbors. As we listened to our kids practice the speech in the days prior to the event, we noticed they hardly knew the word “discrimination” and reading of the speech brought up many questions and great conversation.
We met some nice people as we handed out fliers and realized many were working on MLK Day, but we still had a great time and a great day with our new neighbors, friends, Young Life Leaders and ACF NW Pastor family that came out for the fun. A Great Memory.
